What do I need? An iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 or later, on iOS 18 or later — plus an arc account and an active Arc+ subscription (apart from a one-time promotional trial), and a stable place to prop the phone. AI coaching requires iOS 26 or later. Start with one club and one simple practice goal.
Do I need an account? Yes, apart from a one-time promotional trial. Practice recording otherwise requires signing in and an active Arc+ subscription. Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address.
Does it need internet? Yes for sign-in, Arc+ verification, and syncing. Capture and replay analysis run on the device. Read Terms of Service for what Arc+ covers.
Where is my data? While signed in, clips and session records sync to our cloud automatically. Accounts and practice records are hosted in the United States. Read Privacy & Model Improvement.
Need deletion? Account → Account safety → Delete account removes your cloud data. Deleting one session does not. Open Delete Your Data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to use arc?

An iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 or later model, running iOS 18 or later — and something to prop it up: a tripod, golf bag, water bottle, or any stable surface. The app does not run on the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, or earlier models, for recording, replay, or Second Screen. You also need an arc account and an active Arc+ subscription to record, apart from a one-time promotional trial started from an arc promotional link, which records a limited number of swings without either. No additional hardware, sensors, or accessories are required.

Do I need a subscription?

Yes, to record. An active Arc+ subscription is required to start practice recording, apart from a one-time promotional trial started from an arc promotional link, which records a limited number of swings without an account or a subscription. Arc+ includes practice recording, progress insights, practice plans, and coach sync. Replay of swings you have already saved, and Second Screen, do not require a subscription. If a subscription lapses mid-session, swings keep being saved but stay hidden until an active entitlement is confirmed. Arc+ is a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription, and eligible new members may be offered a 3-day free trial; the price, billing period, and whether the trial applies to you are shown on the purchase screen and on Apple's confirmation sheet. See our Terms of Service for the full billing terms.

How do I cancel, or restore a purchase?

Apple handles billing. Cancel through the Apple Account used to buy the subscription: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ARC. Apple advises canceling an unwanted trial at least 24 hours before it ends. Deleting the app or deleting your arc account does not cancel the subscription, and a subscription cannot be moved to a different arc account. If you already bought Arc+, use Restore Purchases; email us if access still cannot be confirmed.

How do I set up for a session?

Sign in, confirm your Arc+ subscription is active, and allow the camera and microphone permissions. Prop your phone so it can see your full swing, keep it stable, and follow the app's on-screen setup guidance. arc detects each swing automatically. Location permission is requested on your first session because wind-aware carry is on by default; you can turn wind off in the app. The first-run setup screen also asks for Bluetooth, local network, Apple Health, and Apple Music access, all preselected — Bluetooth is what arc uses to discover and connect to a supported launch monitor. Turn off anything you do not want on that screen, or decline its system prompt.

Does arc work at a busy range?

arc is built for noisy, crowded range environments, and each swing is verified against motion, audio, and impact evidence together rather than a single signal. Detection is still not guaranteed for every swing or every range condition. If a swing is missed, or an unwanted capture appears, check framing, lighting, camera stability, and nearby movement, and review the recorded clip before relying on a conclusion.

How accurate are ARC's metrics?

Club head speed and ball speed are estimated from wrist velocity, LiDAR depth, and lever ratios. They are approximations — not launch monitor measurements — and are best used to track relative changes between sessions. arc does not promise phone-measured ball speed, carry, or spin, or precision biomechanics. Carry and launch are shown only when arc is paired with a compatible launch monitor, and those readings keep their source.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes, for sign-in, Arc+ verification, and synchronization. Swing detection, pose analysis, and biomechanics run on the device, but practice recording requires a signed-in account with an active subscription, apart from a one-time promotional trial, and while you are signed in your clips and session records upload automatically. Local capture and replay do not make arc a fully offline or account-free service. Speech recognition prefers on-device processing and falls back to Apple's speech service only when your device does not support on-device recognition for the selected language.

How do voice commands work?

Voice commands need microphone and speech-recognition permissions, and the listener enabled on the session screen. Say "Hey Arc" followed by a command:

Recognition can vary with background noise and language support, so check the app's response and the on-screen state, and use the visible controls when voice is unavailable. Practice capture does not upload microphone recordings.

What are the coaching labels?

arc detects common swing faults and labels them in plain English: "Over the Top", "Early Release", "Jerky Tempo", "Early Extension", "Hanging Back." These are the same terms your golf coach would use. Labels only appear when the fault is detected with sufficient confidence.

Where is my data stored?

Camera frames are analyzed on your iPhone, but while you are signed in your swing clips, session records, and per-swing analysis evidence upload to our cloud storage automatically, and there is no in-app switch to turn that off. Your account, practice records, and analysis evidence are hosted by Supabase in the United States (AWS us-east-1). New swing video clips are stored by Cloudflare R2; clips uploaded before 8 September 2026 remain in Supabase Storage. See our Privacy & Model Improvement page for the full list of services and what each one receives.

How do I delete my data?

To delete your account and its cloud data, open Account → Account safety → Delete account and read the confirmation. To delete one session, use its three-dot menu → Delete in the Replay session library — but note that this removes the session from the phone and from your in-app history and does not remove the cloud copy. Account deletion, session deletion, and canceling your Apple subscription have three different effects. Read the data deletion page before proceeding, or email [email protected].

Does arc use Apple Health?

Only if you allow it, and only for reading. On iPhone arc reads exactly two Apple Health types: heart rate variability and heart rate. It never writes to Apple Health. The heart-rate-variability reading stays on the device and is used for the breathing insight on the session report card. The heart-rate reading becomes a resting baseline for the session, and when an Apple Watch supplies a heart rate for a swing, the difference between the two is uploaded with that swing.

Do you use my data to train models?

arc does not currently run a model-improvement or research-contribution program. There is no such control in the app and no consent record has been collected. Using arc does not give us permission to train on everything you record. If we introduce such a program, we will describe it on our Privacy & Model Improvement page — its purpose, scope, and choices — before it operates.

Does arc use third-party AI providers?

Coaching is generated through Apple's Foundation Models, and Apple decides whether a given request runs on your device or on Apple's Private Cloud Compute. If you explicitly enable the optional Claude route and provide your own API key, arc sends summarized coaching requests to Anthropic as text — recent metrics, club or drill context, session goals, and questionnaire or coach-note text you chose to provide. That route does not send raw camera video, raw microphone audio, depth frames, your account email, or your arc profile identifier. Removing the stored key stops new requests through that route; it does not delete records already held by the provider.

What iPhone models are supported?

arc requires an iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 or later model, running iOS 18 or later. It does not run on the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, or earlier models. AI coaching requires a supported device on iOS 26 or later, with model and language availability. The optional Apple Watch app requires watchOS 26 or later.

Does arc work with Apple Watch?

Yes, and the Watch is optional — arc works without it. The Watch app requests read access to workouts, heart rate, active energy, step count, and walking or running distance, and permission to record a workout, which it discards when practice ends rather than saving it to Apple Health. The Watch app performs no network transmission of its own: everything it produces reaches arc only after the iPhone packages it. See our Privacy & Model Improvement page for what the iPhone then uploads.

Troubleshooting

arc isn't detecting my swings

Check that: (1) the app shows it can see you, (2) your phone is stable and not moving, (3) you are framed so your full swing is visible, (4) camera and microphone permissions are granted in Settings, and (5) your Arc+ subscription is active — recording requires it. If a subscription lapsed mid-session, swings are still saved but stay hidden until an active entitlement is confirmed. On a busy range, move to reduce audio interference from adjacent bays.

Voice commands aren't working

Ensure: (1) Microphone permission is granted, (2) Speech recognition permission is granted (Settings → arc → Speech Recognition), (3) the listener is enabled on the session screen, (4) You're saying "Hey Arc" clearly before the command. At noisy ranges, speak louder or use AirPods for better microphone input. Recognition also depends on language support.

Biomechanics data is missing

Biomechanics require clear visibility of your full body. Ensure: (1) the camera can see you from head to feet, (2) lighting is sufficient, (3) you are not too far from the camera. Some metrics require several swings before they can be computed, and a missing comparison does not mean the saved swing failed.

A clip hasn't reached my Second Screen

Second Screen sends clip video directly to the connected device over a local peer-to-peer connection, so both devices need to stay on the same local connection. Check the connection state shown in the app if a clip has not arrived.
